About Madlau-illustration

Maëlle Daub-Laurent

After studying Modern History at the University of Strasbourg, I worked as a French, history and geography teacher. Over those seven years of teaching, I learned a great deal about knowledge transmission and adapting to one's audience, developing my capacity for exploiting history to motivate students with learning difficulties. During this time, my passion for drawing was nurtured with evening courses at the HEAR (Haute école des arts du Rhin) in Strasbourg.

Now based in the UK, I'm diversifying my career by moving into the art and design sector, and building a professional practice based around illustration. I have a Masters degree in Illustration from Nottingham Trent University. I am currently a freelance illustrator involved with different cultural institutions in Nottingham, including Lakeside Arts, Wollaton Hall, and Nottingham City Museums and Galleries. I also teach Graphic Design and Illustration at Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies and Nottingham Trent University.
